MinecraftStatus
Documentation

Read a server’s reported version

Understand the difference between a Minecraft server’s reported protocol version and tested client compatibility.

What this field means

version.reportedName and version.protocol describe what the status response reported. They do not prove that a client can authenticate, join, load the world or use every feature. Accepted client versions require separate compatibility evidence.

Example
"version": {
  "reportedName": "1.21.8",
  "protocol": 772
}

Handling rules

  • Check freshness and validUntil before presenting the observation as current.
  • Keep missing values visibly unknown. Do not turn null into zero, a guessed version or an empty string.
  • Use evidenceCode and verdict for state decisions. Field values provide context.

Contract boundary

See the Java or Bedrock quickstart for a complete request and the OpenAPI contract for exact schemas.
