Unofficial utility

MinecraftStatus is unofficial. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Mojang Studios or Microsoft. This site uses no official logo, texture, or font.

Telemetry posture

The public application ships no page-view tracker, session identifier, behavioral analytics beacon, remote avatar service, or runtime font provider.

Evidence definitions

The four readings this service publishes, in the order a check reaches them.

The check was unsafe, invalid, inconclusive, or expired. Unknown never masquerades as Offline, and stale evidence never remains current.

Method and safety boundary

Server probes

Every address is validated and resolved before connection. Private, loopback, link-local, multicast, and other non-public destinations are refused as typed and after DNS resolution. IPs are pinned; sockets, payloads, and durations are bounded; requests are client-rate-limited.

Endpoint probes

The endpoint sheet sends anonymous semantic requests to documented service endpoints from one collector host. It is not an official incident feed and completes no login, session, texture, or launcher transaction, except the authenticated canary checks listed on the service status page.

Untrusted output

MOTD content is bounded, escaped, and sanitized before rendering. A server favicon renders only as a validated, bounded embedded PNG data URL, so no browser request returns to the target.

Stable reference routes

Curated targets keep durable reference pages backed by maintained profiles or retained observations; arbitrary checks are never presented as maintained records. The MinecraftStatus community points back to these public evidence records.

DNS/SRV history, multi-region quorum, official incident ingestion, long-term uptime, and gameplay transactions (apart from the authenticated canary join listed on the service status page) are not collected. Their absence is a boundary, not a blank to fill with inference.
